Quote of the Week 6-29-2026

“You already know what you have to do. You’re just negotiating with comfort.”

NEWS

Welcome back friends! I wanted to chat a bit this week about the business end of things at the gym. Over the past 15 years I have read dozens of business books, I have completely devoured anything bizdev related, and I really felt I had a good handle on scaling. I practiced the ideals of “working on the business not in the business”. I did my best to delegate tasks and try to focus on only the ones that I could do exceptionally well.

BUT here is what none of the business books tell you- small businesses, mom and pops, boutique gyms, all run on the back of one crazy idiot with a caffeine addiction and too much passion for their own good. Simply put I love this sh*t. I must say, everyone has been so understanding too, they know I am running a non-profit, I am president of Rotary, I am a dad, and my most important job is staying married. In fact, in all the years we have been open I have only ever lost two members out of hundreds due to me coaching less. But here is the big thing- the best part of owning Red Woods Fitness has always been being on the Coaching floor with all of you. While growing the business has pulled me into more behind-the-scenes responsibilities over the years, nothing compares to helping our members push through a tough workout, celebrate personal victories, and build confidence one class at a time.

That's why I'm excited to announce that I'll be Coaching our 4:30 PM classes for the month of July. This isn't just about filling a Coaching spot- it's about getting back to what I love most. Coaching has always been the heart of why I started Red Woods Fitness. Watching members accomplish things they never thought possible, whether it's their first pull-up, a new personal record, or simply showing up after a long day, is what motivates me every single day.

The 4:30 PM class has always been an energetic group, and I'm looking forward to bringing my style, experience, and passion back to that time slot. Whether you're a longtime member or someone who's been thinking about jumping into group training, I'd love to see you there.

For all of our HYROX athletes and anyone training for a race, don't worry we're keeping our dedicated HYROX class every Friday at 4:30 PM.

Fitness is about consistency, Community, and showing up. I'm excited to be back Coaching more regularly and reconnecting with so many of you each week. If you've been looking for a sign to get back into a routine or to try Red Woods Fitness for the first time, this is it. I'll see you at 4:30 PM. Let's put in the work together.
