WOD-O-WEEN

Friday, October 24th

‍

If you’ve never done it before, WOD-O-WEEN is our annual in-house Halloween competition built around partner workouts, ridiculous themes, spooky decorations, and a lot of fun. And yes, there is competition but the real goal is simple: Get people together, work hard, laugh a lot, and make a memory. This Is for You

I know what happens when people hear the word “competition.” They immediately think: “I’m not competitive enough.” “I’m not strong enough.” “I’m not fast enough.” “I’ll do it next year.” No. This is exactly why we do an in-house competition. You already know the gym. You already know the Coaches. You already know the people around you. This is not about proving you are the fittest person in the building. It is about stepping a little outside your comfort zone with a partner and seeing what you can do. You can scale, you can modify, you can and WILL have fun. All of those things are welcome. And truthfully it is a big goof.

Here’s What We’ve Got Planned

The 631 Chainsaw Massacre

A big, nasty chipper:

100 Toes-to-Bar

100 Thrusters  (45#/35#)

100 Med Ball Sit-Ups

100 Wallballs

2000m Row

‍

It looks scary. That is kind of the point. But with a partner, the workload becomes manageable and honestly a lot of fun. You split the work and suffer together. Classic WOD-O-WEEN!

‍

Evil Deadlift

This one is exactly what it sounds like.

Each partner completes two rounds of:

12 Deadlifts  (135#/95#)

100m Sandbag Carry

14 Burpee Box-Overs

100m Farmers Walk

16 Kettlebell Swings

This workout is going to reward grit. Just picking things up, carrying them, moving your body, and refusing to slow down. Pretty much everything we love.

‍

The Blair Fit Project

AMRAP 16

4 Single-Arm Devil’s Press  (35#/20#)

13 Double-Unders / 26 Singles

6 Alternating Dumbbell Snatches

Fast and simple. And 16 minutes is plenty of time for you and your partner to make some bad decisions, in the best possible way.

‍

Events like WOD-O-WEEN are part of what makes Red Woods Fitness more than a place where you come in, exercise, and leave. We want you to know the people around you. We want you to have something to train for. We want you to experience the nerves before a workout and the satisfaction afterward. We want you cheering for the team next to you even while you are trying to beat them. That is Community! And some of my favorite memories in this gym have come from days exactly like this.

Grab a partner. Pick a team name. Come ready to work. We’ll handle the spooky stuff.
